Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Locksmith Boksburg collects when you contact us or use this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

This website does not track you

We want to be direct about this, because most privacy policies bury it: this website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or social media tracking pixels. You can read every page here without us knowing you did. There is no contact form on the site, so nothing is submitted to us by browsing.

Our web host records standard server logs, which include IP addresses and browser type, for security and to keep the site online. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.

What we collect when you contact us

We only hold information you give us directly, by phone or WhatsApp:

Your name and phone number

So we can call you back, confirm we are outside, and reach you if the technician is delayed.

Your address or location

The property, vehicle or premises you need us at. We cannot dispatch anyone without it.

What you need done

The lock, key or vehicle details you describe, including any photos you send on WhatsApp, so we can quote and bring the right equipment.

Proof of entitlement

For any lockout we ask to see identification and evidence you are entitled to access the property or vehicle. We check it at the job. We do not routinely retain copies.

We do not ask for, and you should never send us, bank card numbers or online banking credentials.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under POPIA we rely on two grounds. Most of what we hold is necessary to carry out the job you asked us to do — we cannot send a locksmith to an address we do not have. The identification check at a lockout is held because we have a legitimate interest in not opening property for someone who has no right to it, and so do you.

Who else sees it

Your details are passed to the locksmith attending your job. As set out in our Referral Marketing Disclosure, work may be carried out by an independent locksmith we work with rather than by an employee, and that locksmith receives the information needed to reach you and complete the work — usually your name, number, location and the description of the problem.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass it to marketing lists, data brokers or unrelated third parties. We will disclose information where the law requires it — for example on a lawful request from the South African Police Service.

How long we keep it

Job records are kept for as long as we may need them to honour work we have done, deal with a query or complaint about it, and meet our tax and record-keeping obligations. WhatsApp threads persist on the phone until they are cleared. If you ask us to delete your details and we are not required to keep them, we will.

Your rights under POPIA

You may ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete anything we no longer need, or stop using your details for anything you did not ask for. To do any of that, call or WhatsApp 079 106 5911 and say what you want done. We will not charge you for a reasonable request and we will deal with it as quickly as we can.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can raise it with us through our Complaints Policy, and you have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za. You do not have to come to us first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. This policy is governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
